Our friends who reside on the Isle of Avalon reminded us that February 2nd was the day the wheel of the year turned to Imbolc – a time to clear away the debris of winter and celebrate the return of the goddess to the land. Snowdrops herald the Spring that is to come – one that will occur not only in the outer world of nature, but also – hopefully – within our hearts.
As if responding to the magic of the forthcoming Spring, folks who are interested in spiritual vacations have begun registering for our sacred sites tours in the British Isles. By the end of May when we’re traveling through Scotland, the lochs will be shimmering and the landscape alive in a blaze of yellow gorse (also known as Scots broom).
Summer is the season for Wales, but somehow the season doesn’t matter. The hidden nooks and crannies in this land of hills, mountains, valleys and coasts have a timeless, otherworldly atmosphere. This is the land of the Mabinogion, the ancient mystical saga of the Welsh people, of Merlin the Sage, of cromlechs, stone circles, holy wells, waterfalls and many secret and magical places.
July is also the month to explore Merlin’s Britain. After journeying with us last year, Nikki had this to say about her experience…
I have visited the sacred places of England numerous times, but no tour ever matched the fun, mystery, and focus on travelers as this Gothic Image Tour. Spiritually refreshing and intellectually stimulating, we met extraordinary experts and practitioners of the gleam and indulged in mother nature at her most extraordinary glory. The daily Tarot was a brilliant addition. The fellow travelers were great company, gifts of the old gods were many, the memories forever, and the quest inspired.
