Further confirmation that it is safe to travel to Egypt has now been received from Washington, D.C. The American embassy in Cairo, Egypt has resumed its normal operations. An official statement issued by the U.S. State Department added further, “The security situation in Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea Resorts, including Sharm el Sheikh, continues to be calm.”
This backs up a statement from Stephen Mehler a short time ago that the ancient archaeological sites were back open, and there seemed to be a new spirit of cooperation and welcome from the Egyptians. All airports in Egypt are also now back to regular operations.

The U.S. Embassy in Egypt is located at 5 Tawfik Diab Street (formerly known as Latin America Street), Garden City, Cairo. It is open for all routine services for American citizens by appointment. U.S. citizens who require emergency assistance do not need an appointment.
The Egyptian government curfew is still in effect between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. and the State Department is requesting that Americans respect it and stay indoors during these hours.
