Reiki energy work and traditional shamanic healing are part of the curriculum at a retreat in Africa that also features a Sarengeti safari. In a spectacular setting in Tanzania, near the Great Rift Valley and Mount Kilimanjaro, this group tour includes sunrise yoga, jungle meditation and learning about traditional African bush medicine.
Brighid Murphy and Jim Flavin are the leaders who will share their knowledge of alternative medicine. Brighid is an interfaith minister, intuitive counselor, Usui Reiki Teacher, Shihan-Kaku Jikiden Reiki Instructor and Shamanic Intuitive and healer. She helps people to discover and release the power that is within them. Jim Flavin, a certified Japanese Reiki practitioner has a gift for assisting others in opening their hearts and enjoying the lives they were meant to be living.
The setting for this Africa Reiki retreat is the Puziko Safari and Wellness Lodge, located deep in the jungle of Tanzania. The guest lodges do not have electricity but are illuminated by lanterns lit by Masai helpers, who also light fireplace fires before darkness falls. There is a generator available in the main lodge so guests can re-charge their camera batteries and other electronic devices.
Meals are served in the main lodge where traditional African cooking aromas waft from the open air kitchen. An observation deck above the jungle floor gives memorable views of the local wildlife: lions, elephants, hyenas, leopards and dik diks. There are also birdbaths for bird watching.
The seven-day retreat will be offered twice in 2015: June 19 through 25 and September 12 through 18. Following each retreat is an optional deluxe 4-day safari out into the plains where the Big Five game animals may often be seen. Accommodations for the June 26 – 29 and September 19 – 22 optional safaris are in a mobile deluxe camp that includes private Hemingway-style tents and evening cocktails around the campfire.
The pricing per person for the 7-day retreat starts as low as $2,000 based on triple occupancy for the land-only program that starts and ends in Arusha, Tanzania, and that includes three meals per day, six nights accommodations, Reiki and Shamanic Healing lessons and a 45-minute spa treatment.
