A few miles east of the modern city of Oaxaca, Mexico is Monte Alban. At an elevation of more than 6,000 feet, the citadel was the ancient capital of the Zapotecs, the indigenous people who still inhabit the area.
The top of a mountain was flattened in order to build the complex that includes two huge truncated pyramids, hundreds of terraces and a dozen clusters of buildings.
Archaeologists believe Monte Alban’s construction was started around 500 B.C. and the architectural styles reflect different degrees of refinement. Surprisingly, the older buildings look superior to the newer ones. Ancient Aliens researcher David Childress reported, “It was evident that a huge megalithic city had once existed here, but was destroyed. Later it had been rebuilt, but by considerably less sophisticated builders.”
How is it possible that Zapotec pyramid builders 2,500 years ago were more skilled than their counterparts a millennium later? Could the first architects have had help from above? Did extra-terrestrials provide some expertise?
The Zapotecs call themselves “Be’ena’ Za”, which means People of the Clouds. Zapotec tradition says their ancestors were supernatural beings who lived in the clouds.
U.S. Government Report on UFOs Coming Soon
Last Wednesday (June 3, 2021) ABC News reported that the U.S. government is about to release unclassified information about UFOs. Specifically, intelligence agencies will make a presentation to Congress later this month about what the Pentagon is calling “Unexplained Aerial Phenomena”, or UAPs.
Will it finally be revealed that ETs have helped shape life on Earth? Even after the Pentagon report on UFOs has been made public, I am very sure that many questions will remain unanswered.
Mysterious Tunnels Beneath Monte Alban
For example, why are there tiny tunnels underneath Monte Alban? Excavation of the site started in 1931, and in 1932 a mysterious network of stone-lined underground passages was discovered beneath the buildings. In them were skeletons, funeral urns and incense burners. But they are so narrow, it is a tight squeeze for visitors to crawl through them.
You can visit Monte Alban and search for the answers!
Earth Ancients podcast host Cliff Dunning is leading a Sacred Pyramid Tour of Mexico October 7 – 17, 2021, and we still have spaces open for you to join the small group. In addition to Oaxaca and Monte Alban, you’ll also explore the pyramids and archaeological sites of Teotihuacan, Chapoltepec, Cacaxtla and Cholula. Plus you’ll visit the house where Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera once lived, and sample the world-renowned cuisine of Puebla.
See all the details of our Mexico Pyramid Tour at THIS LINK.
Twice As Old As Monte Alban
If 2,500 year old pyramids are not ancient enough for you, maybe you’d rather visit a settlement that dates back to about 5,000 years ago. Skara Brae in Scotland’s Orkney islands is the best-preserved Neolithic settlement in Western Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We have a tour of Scotland happening at the end of next month, and there is still time for you to join the group.
While you’re in the Orkneys, you’ll also visit the great chamber of Maes Howe, the neolithic stone circles of Stennes and the prehistoric sun and moon temples of Brodgar.
Our July 29-August 7, 2021 Sacred Scotland tour will also include Loch Ness, Loch Lomand, Iona Abbey and much more. Get more details at THIS LINK.
