The Anangu are Australian Aboriginal people who, for thousands of years, have lived near Uluru, the massive sandstone monolith once called Ayer’s Rock. The Anangu believe that the vibrant changing colors of Uluru are reflections of the emotions of their ancestors, whose spirits are watching over them.
The caves, waterfalls and other natural formations on Uluru are associated with ancestral beings – animals and humans – that shaped the land during its “dreamtime” creation. For example, the waterhole at Mutitjulu is said to be the home of a serpent that plays a major role in ancient traditions.
Would you like to witness the changing colors of Uluru in person, and visit the Mutitjulu waterhole with an Anangu guide?
