Writers who attend Kathleen McGowan’s retreat in Wales will enjoy an added bonus. In addition to getting one-on-one mentoring in the workshops, they will also enjoy three months of follow-up coaching after the event has ended. The value of this added premium is estimated at $5,000.
The multiple New York Times and international bestselling author of The Expected One, The Book of Love and The Poet Prince, Kathleen’s books have been translated into more than 40 languages.
This opportunity is rare and will probably not be offered again. Although the workshop is based on her proprietary writing program, The Writer’s Grail, such an intensive, personal coaching program was last offered seven years ago. And based on an increasing number of writing commitments, Kathleen recently wrote to her followers on Facebook, “I am fairly certain I will never again have time to do a small and intimate writer’s intensive.”
She recently sold a television pilot idea and is now contracted to write ten episodes of a forthcoming TV series, in addition to her other projects, including leading up-coming group tours to the Holy Land and Italy.
Appropriate For All Genres of Writing
This Writer’s Retreat in Wales is applicable for writers of all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals, and both fiction and non-fiction genres will be addressed.
After writers register for the workshop, Kathleen will contact them with a questionnaire, and based on the responses, she will create a personalized workbook for them, appropriate to the area in which they desire to write.
Why Wales and not L.A. or New York?
The location was chosen to take writers out of their comfort zone and surround them with new and exciting stimuli. Kathleen McGowan calls the Welsh environment “magical” as well as inspirational. It is a land of legends with a literary tradition that is rich and ancient. The hotel in which the participants will stay and where workshops will be held includes a Celtic castle that dates back to the 11th century.
The approach to creative writing that Kathleen takes is devotional and spiritual. She will not be teaching grammar or marketing. Rather, her students will learn how to do the life-changing inner work that delves deep into the core and stimulates the creation of authentic self-expression that can have a positive impact on others.
Sources of Inspiration
Besides staying in a Welsh castle, attendees of this retreat will get inspiration from several more places. The program starts in London, where we will visit the house where Charles Dickens lived and wrote “A Christmas Carol” and other classics. Then, into Wales, we will explore the Preseli Mountains where stones were quarried before setting them up at Stonehenge.
Kathleen will organize a scavenger hunt in the charming village of Hay-on-Wye that is famous for its extraordinary number of bookstores. In Pembrokeshire, we’ll visit St. David’s cathedral that dates back to the 12th century and is rich with legends. According to one story, there is a marble footbridge that connects church and cemetery. It is known as the talking stone, because it is said to have once spoken out when a corpse was being carried across it.
The “Spiritual Writer’s Retreat to Wales – Plus a Christmas Carol Tour of Dickens’ London” is being offered by Body Mind Spirit Journeys, and it will happen December 2 – 10, 2019.
