The Mayans are not the only culture who put a special significance on the date 12-12-12, or December 12, 2012. Buddhist, Taoist, Vedic and Hopi traditions also refer to some kind of golden age coming around the time of December 21, 2012. But most people do not think the ending of the Mayan calendar marks an end time but rather the turning of a page into a different era. Some look upon it as shift in consciousness, or to quote the musical Hair, “the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.”
One person who views 12-12-12 as a time not only for healing the planet but also for transforming ourselves for the better is Diomira D’Agostino. A faery healer and channel, Diomira is going to be leading a small group pilgrimage to the heart of mundo Maya, Mexico’s Yucatan, on December 12, 2012. Or, more precisely, from December 8th through 15th. Because of Diomira’s special relationship with elemental beings, one of the aspects of this spiritual Mexico tour will be to connect with the fairies or nature spirits that dwell in the region. She will utilize their assistance to lead the group to open their hearts and become more closely attuned to Mother Earth.
Of course, Diomira is not the first person who has called our attention to the little folk that dwell in and around Mayan sites. In his book “Lost Cities of North & Central America.” David Hatcher Childress wrote about the Alux, or little people said to live around Tulum. More recently, I read “Faery Tale: One Woman’s Searth for Enchantment in a Modern World” by Signe Pike. She describes a close encounter she had with an Alux in her cabana near Tulum.
Some of the Maya sacred sites that Diomira’s tour will explore include Uxmal and Chichen Itza as well as Tulum.
