If His Holiness the Dalai Lama does not own an iPad, a cell phone or even a computer, how is it possible that he has nearly five million Twitter followers and more than four million Facebook fans? We recently discovered the secret. His name is Tenzin Choejor. Besides being the Dalai Lama’s official photographer, Choejor also is the head of a team that looks after social media for His Holiness.
“I’m very much a Netizen,” Choejor said. “I’m always looking at people’s Facebook pages. Even though His Holiness has had a website since 2005, in this busy 21st century people don’t have time to go to your site all the time. We felt it was very important to deliver the content and messages of His Holiness to people via social networks.”
We learned about this at http://www.goddiscussion.com/100317/dalia-lama-has-almost-5-million-fans-on-twitter-and-over-4-million-on-facebook/ and you may click the link if you’d like to read the whole article about how HH delegates such tasks as sending email and posting Twitter tweets.
One task that the Dalai Lama does not delegate, however, is giving his personal teachings. His next teachings in Dharamsala India are slated for October 29 through 31, 2012, and — according to his website — they will be on Chapter 24 of Nagarjuna’s Fundamental Treatise of the Middle Way (uma tsawai sherab) at the request of a group of Koreans at the Main Tibetan Temple.
It is possible to attend these teachings on your own, and practical advice for attending them is available on his website at http://www.dalailama.com/teachings/attending-the-teachings. However, there is also a much easier way. Body Mind Spirit Journeys is offering a Dalai Lama India tour that includes attendance at the teachings as well as a 10-day Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat.
The tour begins October 16, so there is not much time left to sign up. For details, pricing and a registration form, please visit http://bodymindspiritjourneys.com/india-dalai-lama-october-2012.html
