Day 1, Sunday, September 18: Depart from NYC’s JFK Airport / Tour Begins
Depart from New York’s JFK Airport on your overnight flight to Cairo.
Note: Body Mind Spirit Journeys will be happy to assist you with your connecting flight arrangements to JFK.
Day 2, Monday, September 19: To Cairo & Giza (D)
Arrive in Cairo. Meet your tour representative, board an air-conditioned motor coach and drive through Cairo to your hotel in Giza near the Great Pyramid, with an introductory briefing en route. You have time to rest and adjust to the time change before joining the group for a “Welcome to Egypt” dinner.
Day 3, Tuesday, September 20: To Aswan / Nile Cruise Begins / Optional Abu Simbel Excursion (B/L/D)
This morning, transfer to the airport for a short flight to Aswan, one of the world’s most beautiful resorts noted for nature, peace and quiet! Upon arrival, transfer to the city and board a luxurious cruise ship, your home for the next four nights. You have free time for rest and relaxation before lunch on board. This afternoon, you might take an optional trip to Abu Simbel to come face-to-face with the four 60 foot colossal statues of Ramses. Return to Aswan and your cruise ship for dinner. Overnight onboard your cruise ship.
Day 4, Wednesday, September 21: Nile Cruise / Temple of Isis / El Sultan Palace Perfumery / Kom Ombo (B/L/D)
After an early breakfast, depart for a boat ride to the relocated temples on the Island of Agilkia. Among the other temples here, explore the delicate, elegant, and quintessentially feminine Temple of Isis, home of the Goddess of Healing and Magic. Afterwards, visit some of the main points of interest with the Egyptologist, followed by time for exploration and meditation on your own. Depart the island and return to the mainland. Stop at the El Sultan Palace Perfumery to learn about the history and benefits of this healing art. Later in the afternoon, visit Kom Ombo, a magnificent edifice of energy-filled ruins overlooking a bend on the Nile. The famous dual temple is dedicated to Sobek, (the Crocodile God), and the falcon-headed Haroeris, or Horus the Elder. Arrive in Edfu in late evening. Overnight on your cruise ship.
Day 5, Thursday, September 22: Nile Cruise / Edfu Temple / Esna Locks / To Luxor (B/L/D)
Enjoy a morning visit to Edfu, the Temple of Horus, to study first-hand the richly decorated, important scenes related to the divinities associated within the cult of Horus, including Osiris, Isis, and Set. Return to the cruise ship for lunch on board. During the afternoon, sail through the Esna locks to Luxor, the ancient capital of Egypt. Dinner and overnight onboard. Arrive late this evening in Luxor.
Day 6, Friday, September 23: Nile Cruise / In Luxor / Valley of the Kings / Temple of Luxor (B/L/D)
Early this morning, visit to the Necropolis of Thebes along the West Bank of the Nile. In the Valley of the Kings, visit selected tombs of the pharaohs. Also visit the magnificent Temple to Amun, built by Queen Hatshepsut, one of the few female Pharaohs. Stop at the Colossi of Memnon. Return to the cruise ship. And the afternoon free for shopping and exploration on your own. This evening, depart for Luxor Temple to view this magnificent structure under the stars, with time for meditation. Return to your cruise ship for your special farewell dinner.
Day 7, Saturday, September 24: Luxor / Abydos / Luxor (B/L)
Disembark and transfer to your Luxor hotel on the banks of the Nile. After check-in, depart for Abydos, cradle of the oldest dynasties and a holy city dedicated to the ancient, mysterious cult of Osiris. View the famous Abydos Helicopter and the mysterious Osireion, which was built with gigantic megalithic stones not found anywhere else in Egypt. Lunch is on your own. Later in the afternoon, return to Luxor for dinner on your own. Overnight Luxor.
Day 8, Sunday, September 25: Luxor / Dendara / Luxor (B)
Travel to Dendara, the “Lourdes of ancient Egypt”, consecrated to Hathor, the Great Goddess of Love. Explore these with the Egyptologist guide and then retire to the sacred lake area for meditation. Afterward, return to Luxor. Lunch is on your own and you have time to rest by the pool or to explore the marketplace. Dinner is on your own.
Day 9, Monday, September 26: Sekhmet Chapel / Karnak Temple / To Cairo (B)
Early this morning, visit the incomparable Sekhmet Chapel at Karnak for meditation. Then explore the energies of the vast Temple of Karnak, dedicated to Amon-Ra and his wife Mut, and the largest columned temple in the world. Return to the hotel and then transfer to the airport for an afternoon flight back to Cairo. Transfer to the hotel by the Pyramids again. Lunch is on your own. Leisure time in the shadows of the pyramids to swim in the hotel pool or just lounge in the Egyptian sun.
Day 10, Tuesday, September 27: In Cairo / Pyramids & Sphinx / Papyrus Institute / Cairo Museum (B/L)
After a buffet breakfast, you are off to experience the awesome energies of the timeless Sphinx and the magnificent Pyramids of the Giza Plateau, some of the oldest in the world. Later in the morning, visit the famous Mena Papyrus Institute for a demonstration of how the ancient Egyptians made and kept their documents. A traditional Egyptian lunch follows at a nearby restaurant. Visit the Cairo Museum, whose collection of relics dating back to 4,000 BC, including the priceless treasures of Tutankhamon. Return to the hotel in time for dinner on your own.
Day 11, Wednesday, September 28: In Cairo / Sakkara Excursion (B/L)
After breakfast, depart to Sakkara, part of the great necropolis of ancient Memphis, to visit the Step Pyramid of Zoser, believed by archaeologists to be the oldest known of Egypt’s 97 pyramids. Time for private meditation. Leaving Sakkara, stop for a traditional Egyptian lunch at a nearby restaurant, followed by a visit to a local carpet factory to see local children being trained for a trade by master craftsmen. Return to the hotel. The remainder of the afternoon and evening are at leisure and dinner is on your own.
Day 12, Thursday, September 29: In Cairo / Closing Ceremony / Farewell Dinner (B/D)
In the late morning, enter the Great Pyramid for private meditation time inside the King’s Chamber! Then stop at the Great Sphinx. Afterwards, return to the hotel, with the remainder of the afternoon for rest, integration and packing. In the evening, enjoy your “Farewell to Egypt” dinner, complete with a traditional Egyptian belly dancer and a whirling dervish.
Day 13, Friday, September 30: Depart Cairo / Return to New York / Tour Ends (B)
Transfer to the airport for same day arrival at JFK in New York.
