October 7 – 16, 2012

Day One – Sunday, October 7:  Rendezvous at London Heathrow Airport, at ‘The Meeting Point’, Arrivals Building, Terminal 3, at NOON. Travel to Welshpool, our first port of call in in Wales. En route we visit Mitchell’s Fold stone circle. Overnight at Welshpool.

Betws y CoedDay Two – Monday, October 8:  We travel to the picturesque village of Betws y Coed in mountainous Snowdonia. En route we visit the stone circle Moel ty Uchaf (pronounced Moyl-tuh-Ishav). At Betws y Coed we visit the Fairy Glen, with its impressive waterfalls and magic atmosphere, and we have free time to wander around the picturesque and atmospheric village. Overnight in Betws y Coed (pronounced Bettoose-uh-Coyd).

Day Three – Tuesday, October 9:  We drive through the rocky mountain passes of Snowdonia and over the Menai Bridge to visit the Isle of Anglesey, or Ynys Môn (pron: Unus Mone). Here we will visit the Bryn Celli Ddu chambered mound (pron: Brin Cethlee Thee), St Seirol’s holy well at Penmon and Beaumaris Castle. Overnight again at Betws y Coed.

Day Four – Wednesday, October 10:  Onwards through Snowdonia, via Dinas Emrys to Beddgelert, Porthmadog and the attractive visionary architect-built, Italianate Portmeirion village. We visit Harlech Castle, an impressive Norman castle between the mountains and the sea. Overnight in Harlech.

Day Five – Thursday, October 11: We travel south along the scenic coast to Aberystwyth and further thence to Nevern in Pembrokeshire, south-west Wales, where we visit its ancient church, with its bleeding yew trees and Celtic crosses. This was the home of a famous Welsh hermit saint. We visit the classic megalithic dolmen Pentre Ifan and travel on to the small cathedral city of St David’s. Overnight at St David’s.

Day Six – Friday, October 12:  At St David’s we visit the cathedral and St Non’s holy well and chapel (St Non was a female Celtic saint). Free time in the afternoon. Overnight at St. David’s, a lovely little town bathed in Atlantic breezes, with fine coastal views and a homely feeling.

Day Seven – Saturday, October 13:  We travel on to the scenic Gower peninsula via Carmarthen, the city of Merlin. The Gower is a neat little peninsula with ancient sites, heaths and clifftops. Overnight in The Mumbles (near Swansea).

Day Eight – Sunday, October 14:  We visit Parc le Breos chambered mound and Maen Cetty or Arthur’s Stone on the Gower peninsula. Free time in the afternoon. Overnight at The Mumbles.

Day Nine – Monday, October 15:  We travel to Marlborough in England. En route we visit Trelleck stones and holy well in south-east Wales and the graceful riverside Tintern Abbey in the Wye Valley. The ruined abbey is peaceful and a much-blessed spot. Farewell dinner and overnight in Marlborough.

Final Day – Tuesday, October 16:  We depart for London Heathrow Airport for international transfers and transfers.
