Scotland Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Wednesday, June 16: Arrival in Edinburgh
Upon arrival at Edinburgh Airport, meet our guide and transfer to the city center. Depending on our arrival time, we may be able to enjoy a guided panoramic tour of Scotland’s historic capital, taking in its elegant Georgian New Town, the Royal Mile, Princes Street and other iconic landmarks while learning about the city’s fascinating history and culture. Overnight and dinner on your own in Edinburgh.

Day 2: Thursday, June 17:  In Edinburgh (B)
This morning, we visit the iconic Edinburgh Castle, perched dramatically atop Castle Rock and home to Scotland’s Crown Jewels, the Stone of Destiny and centuries of fascinating history.After lunch at leisure, enjoy a guided walking tour through Edinburgh’s atmospheric Old Town with a special Harry Potter theme, discovering the streets, courtyards and hidden corners that inspired J.K. Rowling while learning about the city’s literary heritage. Later this afternoon, take part in an engaging presentation exploring the history of Scotland’s famous clans, their traditions, tartans and lasting influence on Scottish culture. Overnight in Edinburgh and dinner on our own.

Day 3: Friday, June 18: To Highlands Area (B/D)
After breakfast, as we leave Edinburgh and first travel to the remarkable Rosslyn Chapel, renowned for its extraordinary medieval carvings, mysterious symbolism and centuries of fascinating legends. Following lunch on your own, continue to the historic city of Stirling, often regarded as the gateway to the Highlands. Visit the magnificent Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s grandest fortresses and former residence of Scottish monarchs, before continuing to your hotel. Overnight in the Stirling area for our overnight and dinner at our hotel.

Day 4: Saturday, June 19: To Inverness (B/D)
After breakfast at our hotel, there is a morning, visit to a traditional Scottish farm where you will meet the iconic Highland cattle, affectionately known as “Highland coos,” and gain an insight into rural life in the Scottish countryside. Continue north into the spectacular Cairngorms National Park, Britain’s largest national park, where you will board the Cairngorm Mountain Railway for breathtaking panoramic views across the surrounding mountains and valleys. Onto to Inverness for our overnight and at our hotel.

Day 5: Sunday, June 20: In Inverness (B/D)
This morning we visit the spectacular historic site of Clava Cairns, an exceptionally well-preserved group of prehistoric burial cairns that were built about 4,000 years ago. The cemetery remains a sacred place in the landscape for millennia and provides many clues to the beliefs of Bronze Age society. What remains today would have once been part of a larger complex. Two parts of the complex contain a range of prehistoric burial monuments and the remains of a medieval chapel. In the afternoon we drive to Rosemarkie on the Black Isle where we follow a stream through an enchanted wooded glen, with two beautiful waterfalls. The Fairy Glen was once the scene of a well-dressing ceremony, where the children of the village decorated a pool, next to a spring, with flowers. This was said to ensure that the fairies kept the water supply clean. In the late afternoon, enjoy a “Whisky Tasting” of Scotland’s wonderful scotch. Overnight in Inverness. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

Day 6: Monday, June 21: To Fort William (B/D)
Depart Inverness and travel alongside the mysterious waters of Loch Ness, where you will enjoy a scenic cruise across the loch before visiting the dramatic ruins of Urquhart Castle, offering spectacular views over one of Scotland’s most famous landscapes. Following lunch at leisure, continue to Glenfinnan, home to the famous viaduct featured in the Harry Potter films. Subject to the train timetable, there may be an opportunity to witness the Jacobite Steam Train crossing this iconic structure. Continue to the Fort William area. Overnight in the Fort William area for our dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Tuesday, June 22: To Glasgow (B/D)
Travel south through the breathtaking landscapes of Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most spectacular glens, renowned for its dramatic scenery and rich history. Continue to Craufurdland Castle, the ancestral home of the Crawford family for over 800 years. Enjoy a guided tour of this historic estate followed by a traditional afternoon tea hosted by the Laird, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the castle’s fascinating history and family heritage…plus “The Ropes Course.” Later, continue to Glasgow. Overnight in Glasgow and dinner on our own.

Day 8: Wednesday, June 23: In Glasgow (B)
This morning, we enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, renowned for its impressive Victorian architecture, vibrant cultural scene and rich industrial heritage. Highlights include George Square, Glasgow Cathedral and St Mungo’s Cathedral, one of the oldest buildings in the city. The afternoon is free to explore at our own pace. Browse the city’s excellent shopping streets, visit one of its many museums or simply relax in one of Glasgow’s welcoming cafés. Or visit the Glasgow Kilt Company, Phone: 07912384854 (10.00am – 8.00pm: Monday to Friday). Overnight in Glasgow. Dinner at leisure on your own.

Day 9: Thursday, June 24: Tour ends. (B)
Breakfast at our hotel. Transfer to Edinburgh Airport for your onward flight, bringing your Scottish heritage adventure to an end.
