The Tenth Annual Magdalene Movement
Experience for the First Time:
The Mystery School of Mary Magdalene
December 1 – 4, 2023
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Join Bestselling author Kathleen McGowan for the first time ever teaching actual prayer and meditational practices from the ancient Magdalene mystery traditions.
The deepest dive yet into the teachings and traditions at the heart of The Way of Love, then and now. This can only be done in person, and Kathleen will be teaching them directly to those who attend.
For our tenth anniversary of Magdalene gatherings, Kathleen decided it was time to pull out all the stops this year. Some of you have been with us for TEN YEARS and it is time to give back in a big way. For the first time ever, Kathleen is going to lead you deeply into the prayer and mediational practices which have been passed down through the Magdalene traditions – some reaching back to Ancient Egypt. You will see and experience how the two practices intersect and complement each other. You will leave with daily practices which can change and expand your life in truly exceptional ways.
As YOU requested, we are thrilled to again be in Santa Fe this year, with its stunning location and exceptional cuisine! What a perfect place to support us as we celebrate the eternal power of these practices! Here you will have an opportunity to experience the sense of place that makes Santa Fe so special. Its fascinating history and cultural fabric through spirituality, history make this a city that is magical, exuberant, colorful and inspirational.
There is no better place in the USA to bring forth the energies at this time. Won’t you join us?
PS – We LOVE the men in our lives and honor the Sacred Masculine, and YES men are welcome here!
RETREAT PROGRAM OVERVIEW
(At press time certain elements of the schedule are subject to change)
Day 1, Friday, December 1: Retreat Starts (D)
Arrival on your own to your reserved accommodations at the Loretto Resort & Spa (Shuttle information to resort will be given with confirmation). Time to refresh yourself before your welcome dinner with wine, a program overview for the weekend by Kathleen and the preliminaries of the workshop.
Day 2, Saturday, December 2: Retreat Continues (B/D)
We will all join for breakfast and a full day of workshops and discussions. Kathleen will give presentations on the Magdalene traditions and practices, and lead us into powerful prayers and meditations (while also illuminating the difference between prayer and meditation).
Day 3, Sunday, December 3: Retreat Continues. Afternoon Ghost Ranch Tour (B/D)
We will all join for breakfast, followed by a group activity of putting the Way of Love practices into action going forward to create profound change and expansion. A short break for lunch on our own before we embark on a truly special trip to Georgia O’Keefe’s beloved Ghost Ranch. A place to foster well-being and spiritual health through this historic, inspiring southwest landscape. Owned by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), it has been made famous by painter Georgia O’Keeffe. The ancient and majestic land encompasses 21,000 acres of towering rock walls, vivid colors and vast skies, with a history as colorful as the surrounding red and yellow cliffs that offers a diversity of programs and adventure. Our Georgia O’Keeffe Landscape Tour is a narrated journey into the red hills and colorful cliffs that Georgia O’Keeffe painted while living here at Ghost Ranch. The guide will show reproductions of paintings close to the actual painting sites as well as drive to her Ghost Ranch house, where we will walk a short distance and look over the gate at her home. Although this house has never been opened to the public, the view of the adobe in its high desert setting is soul inspiring. After completion of the tour and some shopping time we return to our hotel for dinner.

OPTIONAL POST-RETREAT TOUR – December 4 to 7
Monday, December 4: Attend a Special Private Workshop Event (B/L/D)
After breakfast we board our bus to travel to the Tesuque Roundhouse, where we attend a very special private workshop created for us by Christa Obuchowski, founder of the Aromabotanica Institute in Santa Fe. Originally from Germany, Christa studied and mastered aromatherapy distillation and maceration, creating some of the purest essential oils in the world. Christa will take us through the process of creating our own anointing oil/perfume in the still together, using a variety of sacred flowers and plants associated with and devoted to Maria Magdalena: two different roses, white lilies, Spikenard, Frankincense, and Blue Iris! While the oils blend in the still, we will have a discussion on sacred plants, and Christa and Kathleen will talk about the anointing traditions from ancient times, how the oils were used from Egypt to Christianity. Each person in attendance will have a perfume and/or a hydrosol to take home with them! We will have lunch brought in at the Roundhouse, and then we will travel to the Nambe Trading Post and Museum. The curator, Cathy Smith is of Lakota descent and an Emmy award winning costumer (of Dances with Wolves and 35 other Westerns). Cathy has brought back the charm and authenticity of this historic location with her daughter, Jennifer Jesse Smith, a highly collected jewelry designer and silversmith. In the charming museum we will see movie costumes from the award winning Westerns which Smith has costumed as well as a collection of Navajo weavings – antique and contemporary, pueblo pottery, Zuni katsinas, and offerings from local artists working in traditional styles. Jennifer has created a special “power woman piece” of jewelry which will be made available for those who wish to purchase a very special silver necklace. Following the trading post, we will end our day at the stunning property of Marilyn Snyder, founder of the Inner Vision Institute. Marilyn will share the inspiring story of how she came to create this exceptional center for healing, which celebrates sacred traditions from across the globe. Sunset ceremony on the property and time to meditate and relax before we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Tuesday, December 5: In Santa Fe for a walking tour; a visit to the Santa Fe Cooking School and the Puye Cliff (B/L)
After breakfast, we start in the early morning with Tom, our Guide meeting the group at the hotel to start the 2-hour historic “A Sense of Place” walking tour that will highlight and explore the city’s unique cultural vibrancy, Native/Spanish heritage and history of the Old Santa Fe Trail, the State Capital and the old San Miguel Mission. Then onto a special treat as we visit the Santa Fe Cooking School for a private cooking class specializing in foods of the Southwest and to have “fun in the kitchen” as we will not only learn about this regional cooking, but will have a “hands-on-class” where we will prepare and then enjoy a Southwestern lunch. After lunch we set off for the Pueblo Puye Cliff Dwellings to visit to what is known as the “Place between Earth & Sky” to learn of Native American most awe-inspiring cultural attractions featuring cliff & cave dwellings, early Pueblo architecture, an original Harvey House and a stunning panorama of the valley. Return to Santa Fe in the late afternoon for you to have a chance to experience dinner on your own at one of the many local restaurants. Overnight in Santa Fe.
Wednesday, December 6: To Chaco Canyon (B/L)
After an early breakfast we start our tour to Chaco Culture National Historic Park. On the way we will travel through the Santa Ana Pueblo and the Jemez Pueblo. We will arrive at Chaco Culture National Historic Park in the late morning. Our first stop will be at the Visitor’s Center for an orientation of the area. Our journey will be on the ten-mile loop road with its six major sites as we visit Una Vida and the petroglyphs along with Hungo Pavi, an unexcavated Chacoan Great House. On one of our walks into these prehistoric places, we will have time to sit for a meditation and grounding with nature and the ancients. Then spend the balance of the visit at Pueblo Bonito, the most thoroughly investigated and celebrated cultural site in Chaco Canyon. Planned and constructed in stages between AD 850 and AD 1150 by ancestral Puebloan peoples, this was the center of the Chacoan world. We will have a box lunch provided during our program. In the late afternoon we will depart the Canyon and travel back to Santa Fe for our overnight and dinner on our own.
Thursday, December 7: Tour Ends (B)
After breakfast, the Optional Tour ends and you make your way to the airport on your own.
