SOUL JOURNEY UNDER AFRICAN SKIES
June 20-29, 2020
Tour operated in cooperation with Soul Journeys to Botswana
Imagine looking up into the heavens and seeing nothing but millions and millions of stars and a beautiful moon watching over you…
In the distance you hear wildlife around you and crickets chirping. You are relaxed, but also very aware of your surroundings sitting safely at the fire whilst elephants forage in the surrounding forests. It is both exciting and exhilarating to have nature right there all around you!
Time moves differently in Africa – without the hustle and bustle of the city, the sounds of traffic jams and the cacophony of chatter that constantly fill your days through technology. Here you are taken into the flow and natural rhythm of Mother Nature.
The goal of a pilgrimage is to find the place where inner and outer landscapes merge.
Where our souls meet ourselves. Where our hearts awaken.
Where our creativity stirs our imaginations. Where the smallest wildflower holds the magnificence of sacred experience. Where our challenges become promises.
Where silence leads us home.
Where we are touched by our own unique longing so that it transfigures into a love of life. And a life of love.

Itinerary
Day 1-Saturday, June 20: Arrive Maun, Botswana
Meet in Maun by 1:30 pm. Lunch at The Dusty Donkey. Spend the night camping in the Okavango delta at Daonara 1-1/2 hours from Maun.
Day 2-Sunday, June 21: At Daonara
Guided mekoro trip into the delta for the day, and return to our camp on the edge of the river overnight. We will learn from the ancestral wisdom of the local people about how we can create healthier solutions for our own, sometimes fractured, lifestyles and for the ecological crisis in which we are all immersed.
Days 3 and 4, Monday & Tuesday, June 22 and 23: Khwai Nature Reserve
We’ll leave early in the morning after a sunrise breakfast, to travel to a mobile safari camp at Mbudi in the Khwai nature reserve for two nights. Having slowed down into a more natural rhythm, we can begin to listen to the inner guidance of our dreams. We will eat food cooked on bushfires, and be present to the elephants, fish eagles and wildlife that move freely through the space. We will be sleeping in comfortable
canvas tents and will explore our connection to the stars as we sit around a camp fire in the evenings. The game that we invite into our encounters will hold symbolic significance, which we will explore through our dreams and in Elephants at a Waterhole. Khwai Nature Reserve, Botswana. We will have a bush walk and some time spent on the edge of the river doing some soul exploration.
Days 5 and 6, Wednesday & Thursday, June 24 and 25: The Tshilli Camp
Time for everyone to wash the dust off themselves with two nights of luxurious bush living at Tshilli Camp with refreshing showers, plush duvets, camp fires and delicious food. Here we will find the world’s largest inland Delta. The Okavango River with no outlet to the sea irrigating but the source for the famed Kalahari desert. We will see and an abundance of wildlife attracting thousands of visitors each year, and do a Mekoro (small boat) trip into the delta We will spend our day here relaxing with time for further investigation as we consider our own soul journey, as we continue to explore our connection to our soul selves and interpret the rich language of the bushveld.
Days 7, 8 and 9, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, June 26, 27 and 28: Dqae Qare
Arrive at Dqae Qare after first visiting the Kuru Arts Project in De’Kar. We will sleep in en-suite bedrooms, and visit the campsite for evening suppers and star-gazing out in the bush. This will be the start of the San bushman Experience. The San bushmen of the central Kalahari spend the day teaching us about their connection to Mother Nature and the great spirits. The group that we will be working with still honor the old ways of their ancestors, and includes healers who hold sacred knowledge, which they access
through an enhanced state of consciousness called !kia. This is a ‘trance dance’ or ‘healing dance’, which they will share with us on the second evening. They will also teach us some of their wisdom that not only includes food harvesting and fire making, but also something of their incredible generosity of spirit. During this time we will continue with our own inner exploration of our high-paced urban mind states and how to bring them into alignment with the songs of the earth. Spend the final day and night (with a closing ceremony) at Dqae Qare.
Day 10, Monday, June 29: Back to Maun
Leave early to arrive by midday in Maun, where your journey ends.
Accommodations
We will either be camping in canvas tents in different locations in the bush, or staying in established bush camps. For the camping experience, our mobile safari team will move the tents and our gear each day, cook the wonderful bush food, prepare hot water for bush showers, and make the camp fires.
Food
Delicious meals are prepared for all our clients over camp fires. We pride ourselves on a fusion of vegetarian food and fire baked breads. Vegan and gluten free options are provided to those with specialized dietary needs. Travel Insurance
As travel professionals, Body Mind Spirit Journeys highly recommends travel insurance. Sometimes unexpected circumstances can arise. A sudden emergency just before or during your trip could spoil your vacation and deplete your resources.
We have recently seen some of our valued travelers lose not only their non-refundable deposits, but also their entire tour payments because they hoped they would not need trip cancellation insurance.
You should protect your trip investment and yourself in regards to health, property and trip payments. That is why we provide you with an easy way to contact BMSJ’s preferred insurance provider, Allianz Global Assistance. If you need additional information or have questions, please call Allianz directly at 1-800-284-8300, and refer to code F025323.
BMSJ will be sending you additional details and a brochure with your confirmation on trip cancellation/interruption insurance.
