Buddhist Tour of Northern Vietnam

Day 1 – Depart USA
Depart this evening for Vietnam.

Day 2 – Cross International Dateline

Day 3 – Arrival Hanoi (D)
Arrive Hanoi. Met by your BMSJ representative. Transfer to the hotel. Free time for rest and relaxation before our welcome dinner. Overnight Hanoi.

Day 4 – In Hanoi (B)
A full  day of exploring the fascinating city of Hanoi where old and new things blend together, Vietnamese, Chinese and French cultures mix together. We will do a pleasant walk around the peaceful Ho Chi Minh area, visit HCM Mausoleum, HCM’s stilt house and garden, the One Pillar pagoda. Then visit the West Lake and Tran Quoc pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Hanoi. Then to the beautiful Temple of Literature, the first university of Vietnam. Visit Quan Su pagoda, another old pagoda in Hanoi. Finally take a fascinating walk through the famous 36 busy streets of the Old Quarter and shopping.  Dinner on your own. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 5- In Hanoi  The Perfume Pagoda (B)
After breakfast, transfer to visit the famous Perfume pagoda and cave. Take a rowing boat to Huong Son mountain. Then  a cable car to the famous Huong Tich cave and pagoda. Admire the serene atmosphere, the beautiful cave and beautiful scenery. Walk down to visit Thien Tru Pagoda and take the rowing boat back to the boat station. Transfer back to Hanoi Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 6: Hanoi – Halong Bay (B/L)
Morning check out the hotel, transfer to Halong Bay, a World Natural Heritage site.  On the way, visit the beautiful ancient But Thap pagoda in Bac Ninh Arrival in Halong, get on a boat and enjoy a nice cruise for 4 hours in the beautiful bay. Enjoy a nice fresh seafood lunch on boat, visit the Thien Cung cave, and take many beautiful pictures.
Check in a hotel. Overnight in Halong.

Day 7: Halong – Hanoi – Danang – Hoian (B/D)
Morning check out and transfer to Noi Bai airport to take a flight to Danang. Upon arrival in Danang, go for lunch at a local restaurant, then visit the Marble mountains with interesting Linh Ung pagodas, Tang Chan cave pagoda, Huyen Khong cave pagoda, Tam Thai pagodas. Continue transfer to Hoian, a world cultural heritage Check in a hotel.
Overnight and dinner in Hoian.

Day 8: Hoian (B)
Morning enjoy a relaxing city walk to more than 200 years-old temples and houses: Hoian History Museum, Fujien temple, Japanese Pagoda bridge, Phung Hung Ancient house Afternoon free time for shopping or swimming in the sea.
Overnight in Hoian.

 Day 9: Hoian – Hue (B)
Morning check out the hotel and transfer to Hue, the last Royal capital of Vietnam, a World Cultural Heritage Site. Afternoon visit the Royal Citadel of Hue, enjoy a pleasant walk in this interesting area, then visit the amazingly full Dong Ba market.  We end our program today with a vist to Duc Son Pagoda, care orphan institute, run by Buddhist nuns and home to 165 orphan children. Overnight in Hue.

Day 10: Hue (B/D)
Today, we enjoy Hue’s typical features: peaceful, traditional and beautiful, with a lovely boat trip on the Perfume River to the beautiful Thien Mu pagoda, King Tu Duc’s tomb, Tu Hieu pagoda where King Tu Duc used to visit and give donation and many eunuchs contributed for their life after death. Afternoon visit the impressive King Khai Dinh’s tomb, Tu Dam pagoda which is very famous for singing Buddhist Sutra. Farewell dinner and Overnight in Hue.
 
Day 11: Hue – Danang – USA
Transfer to the airport for our connecting flights back to the USA where we gain back the day we lost on the way over. Same day arrival.
