The Eleventh Annual Magdalene Movement

Mary in the Americas

Presented by Kathleen McGowan

December 6 – 9, 2024
Mexico City, Mexico

Join Bestselling author Kathleen McGowan for the first International Retreat on the North American Continent with teachings from the ancient Magdalene mystery traditions. Our retreat this year is going International with our visit to fabulous MEXICO CITY and onward into the magical mountains of SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE.

In Mexico City we will experience and explore the impact of the Marian traditions as they live in that land today, including a special pilgrimage to the Basilica of Guadalupe in Tepeyac to view the miraculous “tilma” which holds her image from 1531.

We will then go back further in time to the magnificent ancient site of Teotihuacan with its magnificent ancient pyramids, known to be a place of creation and deep connection with the Divine by the Mesoamerican people (bucket list!) Here we explore the connection with the ancient mysteries via the Great Goddess of Teotihuacan, also known as the Spider Woman, a fierce protector and divine mother force.

Archaeologists believe now that the people of Teotihuacan sought to create “paradise on earth” and we can see how these ancient beliefs and practices – including a belief in sacred union – flow into the mystical Christian practices which arrive later and merge with the ancients.

Kathleen will give a very special presentation on how the Marian traditions traveled to the Americas.  The importance of the Madonna of Guadalupe and her story – a true and bonafide miracle – will be presented here, with comparisons to the Shroud of Turin.

Kathleen will follow this with a second seminar on the connection of the pyramids around the world – including some new discoveries possibly connecting Teotihuacan to Egypt, and the “heiros-gamos”/ sacred marriage traditions which also existed at Teotihuacan! We will also visit the magnificent site of Teotihuacan in depth.

We have created two different options for tour extensions to accommodate the different time needs of our guests.  One extension gives us more time in Mexico City, with an included journey to the house and museum of Frida Kahlo, and a further adventure takes us to the gorgeous town of San Miguel de Allende.  Named for the Archangel Michael, this is an artist’s haven of culture and celebration, and we have the opportunity to observe some magical aspects of the Festival of Guadalupe!

Special Added Tour: Just added to the Retreat program will be a tour to the Basilica de Guadalupe and Cerro del Tepeyac. See details for December 8.

PS – We LOVE the men in our lives and honor the Sacred Masculine, and YES men are welcome here!

Its name stands for “place where the humans turn into gods.” This site, built between the 1st and 7th centuries A.D. is characterized by the vast size of its monuments. It is considered one of the major Pre-Hispanic cities of Mesoamerica. Our route around the site will include an in-depth Teotihuacan pyramidexamination of the three most significant Teotihuacan structures: in particular, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, laid out on geometric and symbolic principles. As one of the most powerful cultural centers in Mesoamerica, Teotihuacan extended its cultural and artistic influence throughout the region, and even beyond. Our expert certified guide will delve into the stories, traditions and sacred rites that date back to this classical era. Return to our hotel for dinner.

Later you will have the opportunity to visit the Basilica Museum, which is located in the old Capuchinas convent, and there you will see a vast collection of New Spain art.
