1st day, depart for Athens
Depart from JFK to Athens, Greece
2nd day, to Athens
Arrival in the morning in Athens, local time. Proceed through passport control and customs and we will be met by our representative. Check into our hotel. After time to rest and relax before dinner at our hotel. Then to the Acropolis for a “Sound & Light” performance.
3rd day, in Athens
After breakfast, we have a morning tour of Athens featuring an extended visit of the Acropolis including the famed Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum. Continue to the Monastery of Dafni, the most important surviving Byzantine monument and features some of the most important mosaics in all of Greece. Continue to the Eleusis sanctuary, where the cult of the “great Goddess” Demeter & Persephone was celebrated and linked to Athens by the Sacred Way. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner on your own.
4th day, to Nauplion and Olympia
After breakfast, we board our coach for our tour of Classical and Mysterious Greece. We begin with a drive to Corninth, via the Bay of Salamis and the Corinth canal to Mycenea to visit the Lions Gate and Beehive Tombs of King Agamemnon. Proceed to Epidarus, site of the world renowned theater with its mysterious acoustics. After lunch, we continue to Olympia and a tour of the impressive Temple of Zeus and the Hermes, Greece’s’ greatest classical sculpture. Dinner at our hotel.
5th day, to Delphi
Breakfast at our hotel before coming to Patras, the capital of Peloponnese. Then via ferry to Antirion before coming to Delphi, where the famous Delphic Oracle once foretold the destiny of man. Dinner at your hotel.
6th day, in Delphi
A full day in Delphi for and our sightseeing to the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios .home of the “Oracle” and the museum with the famous “Charioteer. You will also see the ancient theater, the Temple of Athena Pronca and the preserved stadium. Balance of the day to relax and explore on your own. Dinner and evening on your own.
7th day, To ATHENS
Proceed back to Athens via the Parnassos Mountain and the famed Corcyrean Cave, called “Saravtavil” Adorned with stalactites and stalagmites, the cave in antiquity, as Pausanias recounts, was devoted to the cult worship of the god Pan and the Nymphs. Continue to Athens where we have the balance of the day free for independent activities. Then in the evening, we will proceed to a Greek Taverna for a typical Greek dinner and folklore show.
8th day, start Greek Island Cruise – to Mykonos
Transfer to the port of Piraeus for embarkation on our cruise ship. Sail to the island of Mykonos with its white-washed buildings and windmills and the quintessential Greek Island.
9th, to Kusadas (Turkey) and Patmos
Morning arrival in Kusadasi, Turkey, site of one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”, Ephesus. After touring this magnificent site, our cruise continue to Patmos and the Monastery of St. John, named after John the Devine, who received the Book of Revelation here that forms the Last Book of the New
10th day, to Rhodes and Crete (Heraklion)
Arrival in Rhodes and a full day of exploring this “Island of Roses”. Rhodes is famous as an historic town, the Crusaders and the site of the Colossus Rhodes and the Temple of Athena. Continue sailing to Heraklion (Crete), site of of the Palace of Knossos, legendary home of the Minotaur.
11th day, to Santorini
Morning arrival in Santorini, the village perched on the rim of an ancient volcano, believed by many to be the site of the Lost Continent of Atlantis.
12th day, to USA
Early arrival in Piraeus. Transfer to Athens Airport for our flight home with same day arrival
