\"PyramidTeotihuacan was in ruins when it was discovered in the early 1300s by the Maya, who were escaping from an erupting volcano. Although it had been abandoned for more than 1,000 years, the place must have been impressive, because the Maya named it \u201cCity of the Gods.\u201d Towering above the 8-square-mile (20 square km) site are three pyramids, named for the Sun, Moon, and Feathered Serpent.<\/p>\n

Today, most mainstream archaeologists agree that Teotihuacan, located about 30 miles from the heart of Mexico City, was built about 2,000 years ago. But how that was done remains a mystery. How could such cyclopian construction \u2013 precisely fitting together blocks of stone weighing hundreds of tons \u2013 have been accomplished back then?<\/p>\n

Recent discoveries have only added to the mystery. In 2003 a heavy rainstorm flooded the area. Torrents of mud washed open a large sinkhole in a courtyard, exposing a tunnel that had been sealed for more than 1,800 years. When archaeologists investigated, they were amazed to find layers of mica that had been mined more than 2,000 miles away in Brazil. They also found large pools of liquid mercury.<\/p>\n

“Ancient Aliens” theorists were quick to point out that mica and mercury are used in electronics, aerospace and nuclear engineering \u2013 \u201cproof\u201d that Teotihuacan was built by extra-terrestrials.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not the only E.T. connection\u2026<\/p>\n

\"Orion<\/p>\n

In their book \u201cThe Orion Mystery,\u201d Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval observed that the three pyramids at Teotihuacan, just like the three pyramids in Giza, Egypt, are aligned to mirror the three stars in the belt of the Orion star constellation.<\/p>\n

One archaeologist who has been trying to separate Teotihuacan fact from fiction is Marco M. Vigato. With a master\u2019s degree from Harvard, Marco lives in Mexico City, and he has been researching ancient civilizations for more than 15 years. He was able to explore some of the underground passageways in 2017, and he compared them with similar tunnels beneath the Giza pyramids, where Edgar Cayce prophesied that an ancient Hall of Records would be found.<\/p>\n

\u201cVery much like at Giza,\u201d Marco wrote, \u201cthese tunnels could lead to some sort of Mesoamerican equivalent to an ancient \u2018Hall of Records\u2019,<\/em>\u00a0whose discovery could finally help to shed light on the origins of Teotihuacan and its \u2018Gods<\/em>\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last month, Forbes.com reported that Europe is slowing opening up to tourism in May and is fully expected to be open to American visitors by mid-July, provided they will be able to show proof of receiving approved COVID-19 vaccinations.<\/p>\n

Mexico is currently open to travelers flying into the country and all the archaeological sites are open and currently receiving visitors with limited capacities depending on each site, but expected to be at full capacity by the end of summer.<\/p>\n
